From The Coach's Corner
Who will you be in your life?
How much time do you have?
When will you start?
Pay attention to the mental dialogue that runs through your mind when you consider the above inquiries. These are your internal beliefs that move you forward or hold you back as you navigate your way through life. Do you have an endless list of excuses? Do you hold others accountable for your situation? Maybe you enter the “spin cycle” and the whole concept of taking on change in your life is too overwhelming to consider.
Perhaps, just the opposite… the idea of re-creation is titillating. You feel a calling deep within the core essence of your being, wanting to be pulled into the light.
Maybe you have all the above.
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock…. At the end of today, you will have one less day.
When will you start? Which dream will you choose to make a reality?
If you had to pick in 5 minutes, which one would you pick?
Quiet your mental clutter…
My hope for you is that when you take your last breath, you will not only still be dreaming of future endeavors, but will in addition have a long list of rich memories of the dreams you had transformed into reality. I’ll share the groundwork of a plan to get you started on your transformation process:
Turning one’s dream into reality requires both clear INTENTION and ACTION.
The INTENTION is a bold commitment, the setting of the goal with a vision of the outcome. Begin by developing a personal statement of what you ARE doing (not “want”, “should” or “need” to be doing). Include how this endeavor is going to benefit you in your life and when it will be achieved.
Next, take ACTION: What is the first step? Do it today. If you can’t do it today, when can you? Do it. Don’t get caught up in needing to visualize the whole process AND do not let a perceived roadblock 10 steps down the path or 6 months down the road stop you now. Focus on what is in front of you that can be done and do it now.
As far as your worries of how it will all come together, I’ll leave you with a favorite quote by W.H. Murray:
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness concerning all acts of initiative and creation. There is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans; that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen events, meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would have come their way."
